One of the main reasons Kambala enjoys a fine reputation is the high academic achievements of its students. These can be measured by the results of formal examinations such as the Higher School Certificate (HSC), School Certificate and by the many academic competitions the girls are encouraged to enter.
Each year approximately 90 students from Kambala sit for the HSC. In 2006, almost 50% of Kambala’s students gained a UAI of over 90 and this is consistent with the usual excellent results achieved by our girls. Kambala’s HSC results consistently place it in the top group of schools in NSW when results are related to the size of the Year 12 candidature.
Kambala was honoured and thrilled to have 11 of its 2006 HSC students awarded with the coveted Premier's Award. The awards are for All-Round Excellence in the HSC and go to students who gained 90 or over in at least 10 units. They are presented by the Premier of NSW at a ceremony at the Sydney Convention Centre, Darling Harbour.
The strength and quality of education, however, is not limited to the public successes of our students. All girls at Kambala are important and all are encouraged to participate and do their best. While the pursuit of excellence is important, the School encourages students to believe in the principle that ‘you have succeeded if you have achieved your own personal best’. A variety of strategies is used to identify gifted students or students with other special needs.
Teachers work with students to ensure that learning is powerful and that students gain the best possible achievement. Learning is valued and specific strategies are employed to promote students’ use of efficient and effective tools for learning. Learning support, both for gifted and talented students and students needing remedial work, is provided as a flexible program that is designed for an individual. There is a culture of continued professional learning among all teachers.

Information Technology
Kambala continues to be at the forefront of developments in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and, as a result, has been recognised as a ‘School of Excellence’ by Apple. We have a mixed network of approximately 400 computers and we utilise a blend of Intel iMacs, MacBooks and PCs across learning areas.
Kambala has a number of computer labs as well as small banks of computers in classrooms and common areas of the school. We also provide a bank of MacBooks that can be borrowed as complete class sets for small groups or individuals. The MacBooks are equipped with Aiport cards and connect anywhere on campus via a wireless network. We have a multimedia room and a computer lab in the photographic area that allow for high-end graphic work using Adobe Photoshop and video editing using Final Cut Pro Express. The Macromedia suite of applications is also available on all computers giving opportunity for the girls to produce creative work using industry standard applications. The use of digital video has expanded into a number of curriculum areas and reflects the growing sophistication of students.
The School’s Intranet provides the opportunity to extend the classroom beyond its four walls. Girls can access their work saved on servers at school from home and continue to work on assignments.
Kambala continues to provide students and staff with the latest educational resources in IT. Our aims in this area are that girls should leave Kambala with skills and knowledge in all major software programs and platforms, but, more importantly, be well prepared for a constantly changing and exciting new world.
